RF-transparent coatings that protect radar performance by keeping radome surfaces dry, clean, and dielectrically stable.
The Problem
The radome — the protective housing over a radar antenna — is part of the signal path. Water film, salt deposits, ice, and contaminant accumulation on the radome surface alter its dielectric properties, which means they alter what the radar perceives. This applies equally to defence radar operated by DRDO and the Indian Armed Forces, and to automotive ADAS radar sensors in modern vehicles. The physics is identical. Neither failure is acceptable.
The Solution
Keep the radome surface clean and the radar sees clearly.
ViriDyn’s RF-transparent superhydrophobic coatings prevent water film formation on radome surfaces. Water beads and rolls off instantly rather than spreading — maintaining the radome’s dielectric consistency and preserving the signal path. Salt-fog resistance and self-cleaning protection against dust and pollution are included, both of which accumulate on outdoor and vehicle-mounted radar surfaces over time. Crucially, the coatings are fully RF-transparent — no dielectric interference is introduced, and the radar’s calibrated performance is preserved. Standard RAL colour matching is available for military and defence applications.
