In SMT assembly, the stencil is where print quality is won or lost. Untreated stencil apertures accumulate paste residue on their walls with every print cycle — gradually degrading release quality, increasing bridging on fine-pitch components, and forcing more frequent underside cleaning stops. ViriDyn’s stencil coatings apply a nanometre-thin hydrophobic and oleophobic layer to the aperture walls and stencil underside. Solder paste has a fundamentally different relationship with a treated surface — instead of adhering to the aperture wall, it releases cleanly and completely with each print stroke. The paste goes on the pad where it belongs, not on the stencil where it causes problems. The coating is abrasion-resistant, survives thousands of print cycles, and holds up against commercial stencil cleaning solvents.
