The Problem

Water is the enemy of signal. A thin film of rainwater on an antenna surface absorbs and scatters the transmitted signal before it leaves the hardware — a phenomenon called rain fade. As India deploys 5G infrastructure at scale, from coastal towers to high-humidity corridors in the Northeast, rain fade is a routine operational reality that degrades network performance every monsoon and reduces uptime at towers that are expensive to access and maintain.

The Solution

Make the surface superhydrophobic and rain fade stops being a problem.

ViriDyn’s superhydrophobic coatings create a surface that water cannot wet. Instead of spreading into a signal-degrading film, water beads and rolls off instantly at contact angles above 150°. The antenna surface stays functionally dry even in heavy rain. The coating is fully RF-transparent — the signal passes through without attenuation — and provides self-cleaning protection against dust, pollution, and salt deposits that accumulate on outdoor antenna surfaces over time. Application is standardised and spray-on, suitable for high-volume manufacturing lines. Field restoration kits are available for deployed infrastructure.
